Drawing

 Pastel/Drawing with Stephen Snider June 5th 10-4

Hilda Van Netten's Pastel Drawing

Drawing, Drawing, Drawing

Is realism evading you?  Say you can’t draw a straight line?  I’ve heard it all, and I know this course will help you.
We’ll start with some simple drawing exercises that take you from Left Brain to Right Brain control.
Learning to really see.
And, when you can see, you can draw.  It’s that simple.
The lessons include contour drawing, understanding light and shade, understanding how to achieve textures, upside-down drawing – all hands on learning.
When you have made your way through the lessons, you’ll begin your own picture.  You’ll draw from your own photograph or you can get permission from great photographers at http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=black+and+white  Just send Flickr Mail to the photographer to ask for permission to print.  When you obtain permission, download and print your photos.
We’ll spend the rest of the classes working on your individual drawings.

STAY TUNED FOR DRAWING DATES AND TIMES.

The picture below shows the improvement in one of my young student’s drawing abilities.  The pictures on the left shows her drawing skills before the classes and the right one shows her skills after one series of classes.  If she can do it, so can you!   Looking forward to having you join our class.

Before and After Drawing Class

“High-school Students – Improve Your Drawing Abilities!

Do you have a difficult time drawing what you see?  Do your drawings always turn out the same?  This class will teach you how to really see in order to draw well.  You’ll learn how to see stuff like tones (the really dark and the really light areas),  stuff like texture (how DO you get hair to look realistic?) and lots of other tips and tricks.

  • Bring along a couple of good drawing pencils (a soft one and a harder one) and a Staedtler Mars Plastic Eraser.  Pencils and erasers available at The Painted Tree.
  • Bring some Black and White photographs to draw from.  Obtaining permission to print for reference from quality photographers at:  http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=black+and+white is one suggestion.  Find images that appeal to YOU!   Just “Send Flickr mail” to the photographer and ask for permission to print.  Then print them either yourself or at a photo shop.
  • Bring along a few sheets of quality drawing paper or you can purchase some at The Painted Tree on the days of the workshop.
