Landscapes in Oil with Lucy Manley

Lucy Manley is a popular and well-respected local artist who is well known in the Northumberland County, Peterborough area. Her distinctive painting style is currently displayed throughout the region in many, many venues. Samples of Lucy’s work are also on display at “The Painted Tree”.

$125/4 weeks

Thursdays 1:00pm-4:00 p.m.

This class runs for 4 weeks and during that time students will be introduced to painting in the Lucy Manley style. A new painting will be started on the first and third weeks.

Handouts will be distributed which will include a colour photo of the subject matter, and a copy of a simplified sketch and thumbnail/shape design of the scene to be painted. A demonstration of Lucy’s method of painting will follow with the class painting along. Students will do a quick sketch of their own to plan their composition from this material. Then, working steadily, the painting should be blocked-in by the end of the first class. Lucy will critique the work throughout and at the end of the class if time permits. The painting will be completed at the second class. Participants should come prepared to paint with all their required supplies.
